Adding a new 'Service'

This article will explain how to create services.

The services module allows you to add services, which tcan be classified to other content such as People, Articles and events.

If you are using the Services module, then it should be populated first before any other content type as it forms the backbone of the classification system.

The backend:

Step 1: Add the meta data

The metadata for a service requires: 

  • Title
  • Header image (Optional)
  • Summary

Step 2: Categorisation

Services can be categorised in multiple ways:

  • They can belong to one or more "Sections". This is used in Service listings.
  • Services can be "Related" to each other, creating reciprocal relationships between them.
  • They can be connected to one or more "Categories"
  • If the "Companies" module is installed, they can be connected to one or more Companies

Step 3: Meta options

If has the standard meta options:

  • Title
  • Description
  • Keywords
  • Slug

Front end:

The front end can accept standard content plugins such as Text, Blockquote, boxout etc.

In addition, there may be "Related" content plugins added either manually or automatically via the template:

  • Related people
  • Awards
  • Forms
  • Embedded CRM forms (via Snippets)
  • Related Services
  • Related articles
  • Related categories
